Theory is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Designer to join their Production Technical Design team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to understand and execute company product vision, business strategy, and supply chain goals. To step outside of the immediate pattern and technical needs and lead within a greater context.
  • Lead and manage a large team of pattern makers and technicians. Ability to receive everyone’s challenges and help to make the right decisions. Keep the team and process moving forward.
  • Utilize communication tools to regularly inform cross functional teams and senior management of critical progress or issues.
  • Have a comfort level with all mens classifications (woven, cns, tailoring, & outerwear) and product categories. Be able to speak to pattern equally as to the tech pack. Be able to lead all fittings with design and the business.
  • Work closely with the supply chain team on improving, evolving, and elevating our current suppliers. Improve the garment manufacturers by guiding them with concrete examples of make as well as standardized process.
  • Execute design and fit intent into sales samples while maintaining Design esthetic.
  • Collaborate with business partners to gain clear direction and consensus of fit intent.
  • Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction to vendors.
  • Lead fit session and take initiative as the fit expert of specific product (s).
  • Open to travel to S&VD offices and /or factories to work with team members to troubleshoot, educate, and understand factory capabilities
  • Track and manage workflow and workload for own product to ensure product area (s) and deliverables are maintained.
  • Identify and proactively engage business partners and supervisor when issues arise with recommendations for viable options/ solutions.
  • Collaborate with Design on creation of a style to establish the initial spec and construction details.
  • Fosters open communication and team environment with all Business Partners
  • Holds self and other accountable for work commitments and outcomes
  • Participates and lead departmental and cross-functional meetings as appropriate.

  • Guides team members to balance workload and manage deliverable

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical design development and apparel industry background
  • Minimum 17 yrs of hands-on experience in mens technical design and patternmaking
  • 10+ yrs leading a professional technical design and patternmaking team of 10 or more
  • Contemporary brand market experience
  • Experience working for a company with significant manufacturing operations
  • Exposure and working knowledge of all sewing and factory processes
  • Overall prioritization and project management (from conception to completion), planning and budgeting skills
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Proven success adjusting to rapidly changing business needs; enjoy working and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, apparent in smooth communication during problem-solving, negotiations, meetings and presentation delivery
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international

Salary: $110,000.00 to 120,000.00*

*The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
