Job summary

CFD Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL seeks a Chief Engineer to serve as Technical Authority for aerospace development programs. You will manage system architecture to ensure a safe, compliant, and integrated product across mechanical, power/control electronics, and embedded software disciplines, interfacing with the Customer and IPT leads.

This role splits time between the Huntsville headquarters and Hollywood Engineering Test Center, guiding V&V plans, gate certifications, and risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, systems, computer, software, or related field required.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in aerospace/aviation.
• Demonstrated leadership in engineering oversight or multidisciplinary projects.
• Broad technical foundation across hardware, electronics, or software.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Primary Technical Interface to the Customer and provide technical authority across the program.
• Hold final approval authority for engineering designs and verification results (PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Decompose customer requirements into technical specs for IPTs; manage ICDs.
• Provide technical guidance to IPT Leads and resolve disagreements between IPTs.
• Oversee V&V strategy and approve test plans; ensure safety and AS9100 compliance.
• Lead investigations into failures or anomalies and manage technical risk mitigation.
