Senior Technical Architect, Health IT (Remote)

Job summary

LTS seeks a Technical Architect to drive solution blueprints for the Health Services Portfolio under the HTMS program with the VA. You will collaborate with VA architecture staff, business customers, and consultants to optimize IT investments and solutions.

Responsibilities include defining interfaces, translating strategies into system requirements, and developing architectural artifacts. The role requires deep architecture experience, remote-work capability, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, computer science, systems, business or related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience; 10 additional years may substitute for education.
• Demonstrated architecture experience across enterprise IT landscapes.
• Ability to distill/optimize/simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of VA technology and application landscape.
• Experience in designing scalable, resilient, enterprise applications.
• Experience creating solution blueprints and future-state processes.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps culture, processes, metrics and tooling.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Quickly develops a holistic view of the organization’s current IT architecture, operations, modernization initiatives and future plans.
• Conducts workflow analysis, technology assessments, and business studies to define architecture strategies.
• Lead role in defining solutions to address business requirements.
• Creates system design artifacts for current and future states of applications.
• Defines interfaces, data exchanges and data structures required by solutions.
• Translates high-level product strategies into system requirements for implementation.
• Develops architecture models and guidelines for current and future development.
• Authors architecture artifacts to establish technical reference points.
• Advises on adoption of new technology to optimize developer and user experience.
• Updates roadmaps to align with higher strategies.
