Job summary

Addison Group seeks a Senior Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting Analyst to join its corporate accounting team. You will research complex accounting topics, prepare SEC filings, and collaborate across functions to ensure high-quality financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead SEC filings, maintain policies, and coordinate quarterly reporting while ensuring internal controls. Must have public-company experience, US GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Workiva and reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
  • Experience with technical accounting research and reporting for public companies.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX controls.

Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate new and emerging accounting standards and assess impact on the business.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums for areas such as stock-based compensation, leases, hedging, and impairments.
  • Monitor SEC guidance and filings, providing recommendations on reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and related disclosures.
  • Lead quarterly financial reporting deliverables and maintain internal control documentation.
  • Prepare quarterly statements and review XBRL tagging for accuracy.
  • Draft and enhance disclosures for new standards and significant transactions.
  • Support SOX compliance and audit requests with documentation.

We're partnering with a well-established, publicly traded global organization seeking a Senior Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting Analyst to join its corporate accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys researching complex accounting issues, preparing SEC filings, and partnering with cross-functional teams to support high-quality financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $115k to $130k base + bonus + comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and evaluate new and emerging accounting standards and assess the impact of significant business transactions.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums and documentation related to areas such as stock-based compensation, leases, hedging, segment reporting, and asset impairments.
  • Monitor SEC guidance, peer filings, comment letters, and industry developments, providing recommendations on evolving reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and update corporate accounting policies to ensure compliance with current accounting standards.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, earnings releases, and support annual proxy and benefit plan reporting.
  • Coordinate quarterly financial reporting deliverables while ensuring compliance with internal controls and documentation requirements.
  • Perform financial reporting control activities, including disclosure checklists, tie-outs, certifications, and reconciliation reviews.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements, including the statement of cash flows, and review XBRL tagging for accuracy.
  • Draft and enhance financial statement disclosures for new accounting standards and significant transactions.
  • Analyze financial statement fluctuations and recommend improvements to accounting treatments and disclosures.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors by supporting SOX compliance, audit requests, and documentation.
  • Drive process improvements by leveraging financial reporting systems and tools such as Workiva, Hyperion, and other reporting technologies.
  • Support cross-functional projects and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (Master's degree and/or active CPA preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, SEC reporting, financial reporting, or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, SOX compliance, and technical accounting research.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements for publicly traded companies.
  • Experience with Workiva.
  • Hands-on experience with financial reporting and consolidation systems such as Hyperion, Oracle, OneStream, SAP BPC, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Background with a Big Four or large public accounting firm and/or a complex multinational public company is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex accounting topics for business partners.
  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
