Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas, Inc. is seeking a Technical Accountant to research and apply GAAP/SAP guidance, ensuring accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

You will support complex transactions, develop accounting policy, and collaborate with internal teams and external auditors. Qualified candidates have 5+ years in technical accounting or related roles, with CPA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• Master's degree in Accounting OR CPA designation (active or inactive) or minimum 5 years leading technical accounting research and policy development.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in public accounting, technical accounting, financial reporting, or regulatory accounting required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Sr. Auditor, Sr. Accountant, project leadership, or similar role required.

Aufgaben

• Research and analyze accounting guidance related to new transactions, contracts, business arrangements, acquisitions, and regulatory developments.
• Prepare accounting position papers and technical memoranda documenting conclusions and supporting rationale.
• Interpret and apply GAAP, SAP, NAIC guidance, and other applicable regulatory accounting and reporting requirements.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy to internal controls and policies.
• Evaluate accounting implications of revenue recognition, leases, investments, reserves, contingencies, impairments, and capital or surplus impacts.
• Identify and document opportunities to strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and improve processes.
