Job summary

HRL Laboratories is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to drive rapid technology development in sensors and advanced materials. You will partner with PIs to plan, execute, and report on programs spanning bid stages through delivery, ensuring milestones are met within scope and budget.

The role demands strong leadership, a broad technical background, and experience managing subcontractors and budgets in a fast-paced environment, with a US citizenship clearance requirement.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in a science or engineering field.
• 8+ years of project management and R&D-focused experience.
• Experience with contracting, sub-contracting, supplier management, finance, purchasing, and legal.
• Ability to re-plan projects and communicate changes as constraints evolve.
• Broad technical background in science/engineering; MEMS familiarity desired.
• Costing/scheduling skills: IMS, critical path, earned value, MIS presentations.

Responsibilities

• Strategic planning and management of multi-phase development projects.
• Plan and advocate for resources (personnel, equipment, space).
• Communicate cost and schedule risk to customers, PIs, and leadership.
• Provide programmatic, financial and technical reporting to customers and stakeholders.
• Engage project teams on execution progress and risk management plans.
• Recommend opportunities to improve execution to senior management.
• Prioritize workflows to maximize innovation and maturation rates.
