Job summary

Valnet is seeking a Senior Editor to lead editorial for one of its consumer technology brands. The role is remote, contract-based, and candidates must reside in the U.S. or Canada, or in countries within a few hours of the EST time zone.

You will oversee daily coverage, establish editorial standards, and shape workflow while guiding a team of freelance writers and contributing hands-on editing. This position emphasizes leadership and strategic planning in a fast-paced tech media environment.

Qualifications

• Experience editing and writing consumer technology content.
• Strong familiarity with mobile devices, desktop OS (Windows required; Linux a plus).
• Prior experience leading or mentoring writers in a freelance environment.
• Comfortable owning editorial decisions and managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Editorial Ownership & Execution: Oversee day-to-day operations for an assigned content segment and maintain accuracy and clarity across published content.
• Writer Leadership: Lead and support a team of freelance writers, provide feedback, review performance and identify growth opportunities.
• Hands-On Editing & Writing: Review pitches, assign topics, manage deadlines, perform copy edits, and contribute original content when needed.
• Planning & Strategy: Collaborate with editorial leadership to balance the calendar and align with audience interests and business goals.
• Collaboration & Communication: Provide guidance through regular check-ins and coordinate with leadership on broader initiatives.
