CNET is seeking a senior editor to lead editorial coverage of services and software with a privacy and cybersecurity focus. You will manage staff and freelancers, edit guides, product reviews and roundups, and occasionally write stories.

The role emphasizes project management, adaptability, and strong collaboration within a fully remote team across US time zones. You will mentor writers, shape content strategy, and help readers make informed tech choices while maintaining high editorial

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of editing experience, preferably in digital publishing.
• Experience evaluating online services, particularly privacy and security.
• Able to help readers cut through marketing and see practical benefits/drawbacks.
• Organized mindset with trackable story ideas and publishing discipline.
• Positive, collaborative attitude and ability to work with colleagues beyond immediate team.
• Growth mindset and openness to feedback.
• Familiar with AP Stylebook or in-house style guides.

Responsibilities

• Edit reviews, buying guides and news reports from Services and Software writers.
• Assign and edit stories to freelancers.
• Provide structural, content and copy edits, and publish stories under deadline.
• Create exciting headlines and clear descriptions of complicated technology.
• Participate in monthly content planning for staff and freelance writers; help organize production and brainstorm ideas.
• Learn about tech categories and help people improve digital privacy and security.
