Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineering leader to build and grow an AI-driven engineering team. You will translate product strategy into technically sound plans, oversee delivery, and ensure reliable, high-quality customer experiences.

You will lead senior ICs across backend services, data systems, and consumer fintech-oriented products, shaping architecture and workflows for scalable success.

Job description

• Lead, develop, and grow the Rowan engineering team, setting a high bar for technical judgment, product quality, customer trust, and steady execution.
• Partner with product leadership to translate Rowan’s strategy into engineering plans and shipped capabilities.
• Stay close to the full Rowan experience: conversational interfaces, orchestration, memory, app surfaces, and safety models.
• Help the team build agentic capabilities that do consistent, correct, and reliable work end-to-end.
• Drive projects to conclusion by making decisions, clearing blockers, aligning stakeholders, and shipping high-quality work.
• Build systems that make AI work dependable: eval frameworks, observability, human-in-the-loop workflows, and clear ownership.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, Operations, and other teams to choose the highest-leverage bets and make tradeoffs.
• Create a team environment for senior engineers to stretch across product, AI, systems, operations, and trust.
• Hold regular 1:1s, deliver performance reviews, and build individualized growth plans for team members.
• Help raise the product bar beyond chat toward proactive, rewarding, trustworthy experiences.
• Stay curious about AI engineering and help the team adopt new workflows, tools, and patterns.

Requirements

• Experience shipping production agentic software and a strong track record leading engineering teams, including senior ICs working in complex or ambiguous domains.
• An engineer who leads engineers; able to set direction and grow people while staying close to the work.
• Strong product judgment; able to reason from customer need to product experience to technical architecture.
• Excited by AI as an execution layer; understand that real customer value comes from orchestration and workflows.
• Hands-on or deeply practical familiarity with LLM applications, agentic systems, and workflow orchestration.
• High bar for quality and trust; comfortable slowing down to ensure accuracy.
• Comfortable driving outcomes in ambiguity.
• Ability to explain the why, create alignment, and give engineers enough context to make good local decisions.
• Tenacious learner; engaged with what is changing in AI and team workflows.
• Energized by continuous improvement; notices and addresses workflow pain points.
• Technical depth and range across backend services, product surfaces, data systems, or consumer fintech products.
• Comfortable with urgency without being reckless.
