Mandelbaum Barrett PC in Roseland, NJ seeks an experienced Tax, Trusts & Estates Paralegal to support attorneys in sophisticated matters including estate administration, trust administration, and estate planning with a focus on tax.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in trusts & estates or tax paralegal work in a law firm, a Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate, proficiency with MS Office, and familiarity with probate procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
• 7+ years of experience as a Trusts & Estates or Tax Paralegal in a law firm.
• Experience handling estate and trust administration from inception to closing.
• Experience with estate, inheritance, gift and fiduciary income tax filings.
• Familiarity with probate procedures and surrogate court filings.
• Knowledge of trusts, wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Notary Public designation preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with all phases of estate, trust, tax, and business succession planning.
• Prepare probate, surrogate court, fiduciary, and tax filings and docs.
• Draft administration documents, correspondence, beneficiary communications.
• Gather and organize financial records for tax returns and filings.
• Coordinate asset valuations, inventories, and accountings; assist trust funding.
• Obtain tax IDs and support IRS filings and tax controversy matters.
• Assist with Form 706, Form 709, fiduciary returns and schedules.
• Assist with entity formation, charitable planning, and transactional matters.
• Serve as liaison with clients, accountants, and government agencies.
