Job summary

Unknown Firm in Latham, NY is seeking a Tax Manager / Senior Manager to lead tax engagements for a regional client base. You will oversee federal and state tax compliance, planning and advisory work, supervise staff, and help grow the Capital Region office with potential path to Principal or Partner.

CPAs preferred and relocation to the Capital Region may be considered. This role involves managing multiple engagements and maintaining high technical and client-service standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA license strongly preferred.
• Progressive public-accounting experience.
• Strong tax compliance and planning knowledge.
• Experience with partnerships, S corporations, C corporations and individual returns.
• Experience serving closely held or owner-operated businesses.
• Demonstrated client-relationship management capabilities.
• Previous staff supervision, coaching or team-leadership experience.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, professional judgment and executive presence.
• Current Capital Region residency or a genuine willingness to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with closely held businesses, business owners and high-net-worth individuals.
• Oversee federal and state tax compliance, planning and advisory engagements.
• Review returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations and individuals.
• Advise clients on tax-planning opportunities and broader business matters.
• Manage engagement timelines, workflow, budgets and client expectations.
• Supervise Albany-area employees.
• Coordinate client work and technical resources across multiple offices.
• Help transition and strengthen longstanding client relationships.
• Maintain high standards of technical quality and client service.
• Support accounting, bookkeeping, review and advisory engagements as appropriate.
• Build relationships within the Capital Region business community.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and develop new business.
• Participate in the office’s long-term growth and strategic direction.
