Job summary

Dow seeks an Expert Tax Counsel to join its Tax Department, providing legal and business advisory across tax planning, M&A, audit defense, and tax controversy. The role reports to the Managing Counsel for Global Tax and can be located in Midland, MI, Houston, TX, or virtually in Chicago/Detroit.

You will advise on tax provisions in commercial agreements, conduct thorough tax research, and help identify incentives.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tax structuring and legal analysis of M&A, divestitures and reorganizations.
• Lead and support audit defense and controversy matters across federal, state, local, and indirect tax areas.
• Review and advise on tax provisions in a wide array of commercial contracts.
• Conduct detailed legal research on federal, state, local, and international tax questions and draft memoranda.
• Assist in identifying and maintaining compliance with federal, state, local, and energy-related tax credits and incentives.
• Partner with Tax Operations, Accounting, Legal, M&A, Controllers, Treasury, Finance, and Government Affairs to integrate tax considerations into business planning.
