Job summary

DelDOT is seeking two Tax Auditor II positions to audit a broad range of Delaware tax programs, including corporate income, pass-through entities, personal income, and gross receipts taxes. The role requires planning and executing complex audits with minimal supervision and may involve travel to audit sites.

Successful candidates will research records, interview taxpayers, prepare detailed audit summaries, and provide technical guidance to ensure compliant tax collection.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in tax auditing to ensure compliance with tax laws, rules and regulations.
• Six months' experience analyzing tax discrepancies or related problems and advising on solutions.
• One year of experience preparing audit summaries and reports documenting findings.

Responsibilities

• Audit tax filings, financial records, and supporting docs to determine tax liability.
• Research tax records and conduct interviews, including field investigations as needed.
• Identify errors and non-compliance, and recommend corrective action.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure uniform application of tax laws.
• Explain audit findings and work with taxpayers to achieve compliance.
• Prepare audit summaries and reports with findings and supporting facts.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
