Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group is seeking a Senior Tax Associate for our Birmingham, AL client. The role focuses on federal and state filings, technical tax research, ASC 740 provisions, and mentoring junior staff in a collaborative, client-centric environment.

You'll manage multiple engagements for manufacturing and distribution clients, deliver accurate tax work, and contribute to business development while maintaining strong communication with partners and senior managers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in public accounting.
• BA/BS in Accounting or Master’s in Accounting/Taxation.
• Excellent English writing, research, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-driven mindset.
• Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Federal and state tax returns for corporate, partnership, and individual clients.
• Perform technical tax research on Federal, state, and international issues.
• Support consulting engagements including permanent establishment and nexus studies.
• Assist with ASC 740 corporate tax provisions.
• Deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality work products.
• Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations.
• Prepare clear and concise workpapers and documentation.
• Delegate effectively and support team members by removing obstacles.
• Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to staff.
• Collaborate with partners on proposals and business development initiatives.
