Job summary

Latham & Watkins seeks a Senior Tax Analyst to lead the firm’s tax initiatives from the Global Services office in Los Angeles. You will prepare income tax schedules, ensure compliance, and drive tax procedures and research while mentoring Tax Analysts.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in public accounting, a bachelor’s in accounting, and CPA progress, with international tax experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar field.
  • CPA or working towards CPA.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in public accounting at a multi-office professional services organization.
  • Experience with preparing partnership and/or individual income tax returns.
  • Experience with international partnership and expatriate tax issues.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead the Tax Analysts to prepare accurate tax returns and ensure tax compliance for various tax procedures and projects, including audits.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Manager to manage the firm’s global tax issues and respond to tax compliance questions.
  • Analyze data from Finance and Accounting to prepare tax schedules for global income tax, business tax, sales and use, and property taxes, including international compliance.
  • Review general ledger analyses and perform quality assurance procedures.
  • Research global tax issues using Checkpoint, Bloomberg Tax, CCH, and Lexis.
  • Protect highly sensitive, confidential information the firm maintains.

About the Role

The Senior Tax Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Global Tax team. This role will be responsible for acting as a lead tax specialist for the firm with regards to preparing income tax return schedules, tax compliance, tax procedures, tax research, and various special projects, while working with the Tax Manager to develop the Tax Analysts and lead them in their professional development endeavors. This role will be located in our Global Services office.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a mentor and leading the Tax Analysts to prepare accurate tax returns and ensure appropriate tax compliance with regards to various tax procedures and special projects, including audits
  • Working with the Tax Manager to manage the firm’s global tax issues and communicate and answer tax compliance questions
  • Analyzing data provided by the Finance and Accounting group and preparing tax schedules for the preparation of the global income tax returns, business tax returns, sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and international tax compliance requirements
  • Reviewing applicable general ledger analysis and performing quality assurance procedures
  • Researching global tax issues using Checkpoint, Bloomberg Tax, CCH, and Lexis
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

And have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar field
  • A CPA or working progress toward CPA
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in public accounting at a multi-office professional services organization
  • Relevant experience with preparing partnership and/or individual income tax returns, preferably
  • Related experience with international partnership and expatriate tax issues, preferably

Pay Range

USD $95,000.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr.
