Job summary

Latham & Watkins LLP in California is seeking a Tax Analyst to join the Global Tax team. The role focuses on preparing income tax return schedules, analyzing data from Accounting & Finance, and handling U.S.

federal and state partnership tax returns, as well as sales and use tax compliance. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA licensure (or in progress), and at least one year of public accounting experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of public accounting experience in a multi-office firm preferred.
  • Experience with U.S. federal and state partnership income tax returns preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate information with external tax accountants for US federal/state partnership returns and international filings.
  • Assist Senior Tax Analysts with general ledger analyses and QA procedures.
  • Calculate and prepare partners’ US and international tax calculations.
  • Maintain a compliance schedule for all US federal, state, and international tax returns.
  • Support Global Tax Department projects and protect confidential information.

About the Role

The Tax Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Global Tax team. This role will be responsible for acting as a tax specialist for the firm with regard to preparing income tax return schedules and other tax compliance workbooks, analyzing data provided by the Accounting & Finance Department, and preparing tax schedules for the preparation of U.S. federal and state partnership income tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other tax compliance requirements. This role will be located in our Global Services office.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in coordinating the process of providing information to external tax accountants with respect to the preparation of the U.S. federal and state partnership tax returns and international tax filings
  • Working with the Senior Tax Analysts to prepare certain general ledger analyses and perform quality assurance procedures
  • Calculating and preparing the partners’ U.S. and international tax calculations
  • Assisting with maintaining a compliance schedule of all U.S. federal, state, and international tax returns
  • Assisting with any projects needed by the Global Tax Department or staff
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or working progress toward CPA license, preferably
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in public accounting at a multi-office professional services organization, preferably
  • Experience with preparing U.S. federal and state partnership income tax returns, preferably

Pay Range
USD $80,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
