Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) to prepare complete tax returns for individuals and businesses, conduct client interviews, and deliver personalized recommendations. The role emphasizes building long-term client relationships and providing IRS support, audits guidance, and tax savings opportunities.

The position is in-person at a Block Advisors office, with competitive hourly pay and an incentive plan tied to impact and tax expertise development.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience working in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications.
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
