Job summary

H&R Block is hiring a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) to prepare accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses, uncover savings opportunities, and build lasting client relationships in person at a local Block Advisors office.

You will conduct in-depth client interviews, deliver clear recommendations, provide IRS support and audit guidance as needed, and collaborate with team members in a supportive, client-focused office culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience with complex individual and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Strong client-facing advisory experience and ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and state requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
