Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor to prepare comprehensive returns for individuals and businesses in a local Block Advisors office. You will interview clients, identify tax-saving opportunities, and provide clear recommendations with supportive training and technology.

You will deliver client-focused service, work closely with teammates, and assist with IRS notices and audit guidance as needed. A strong background in tax is required and ongoing CE is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience working in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
