Position Summary

Novogradac & Company LLP is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage a variety of tax and client assignments while supervising and mentoring staff. The role requires independent problem‑solving, client relationship building, and team profitability improvement. Remote or hybrid work may be available.

Responsibilities
  • Complete tax projects for designated clients with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct thorough engagement reviews and accept increasing responsibility for engagement management.
  • Recognize potential problem areas and propose effective solutions.
  • Conduct business‑specific research, analyze data, compile reports, and make recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships through professionalism and a service‑oriented approach.
  • Enhance industry knowledge by completing training courses.
  • Increase team profitability by managing time efficiently and contributing ideas.
  • Supervise and mentor Staff Accountants.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Work toward obtaining a CPA license if not already obtained.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (advanced degree a plus).
  • 1–3 years of experience in public accounting or equivalent education and work balance.
  • Ability to sit for the CPA exam or passed section of the CPA.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and tax rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and follow‑through skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a fast‑paced, varied workload.
  • Constructive feedback acceptance and collaborative teamwork.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and report‑writing tools.
  • Professional demeanor with coworkers and clients.
  • Ability to meet internal firm deadlines (time entry, billing, etc.).
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and domestic travel as needed.
  • Experience in areas such as Affordable Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, Renewable Energy Tax Credits, Historical Tax Credits, HUD programs, real estate, partnerships, and related tax credits is helpful but not mandatory.
