Job summary

Canon U.S.A. Inc. in Melville, NY seeks a Senior Tax Accountant to prepare and review multi-state sales and use tax returns and ensure compliance with state and local regulations.

This full-time, hybrid role requires you in the office Monday–Wednesday with an option to work from home on other days, and includes journal entries, reconciliations, audits support, and tax research. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, a bachelor's in accounting, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Vertex

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, plus 5 years of related experience; CPA helpful.
• 5+ years of multi-state sales tax accounting experience.
• Requires general accounting work experience and knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with Vertex Returns, or similar tax management system required.
• Oracle and Tableau experience a plus.
• Strong Excel skills required.
• Ability to work independently and interact well with others.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and perform account reconciliations, identify variances and determine corrective action.
• Review purchase invoices to determine taxability and review use tax accruals for accuracy.
• Review customers’ sales tax exemption certificates and perform system updates in Vertex and Canon ERP (S21).
• Maintain setups in Vertex O series for sales and purchase transactions.
• Prepare support documents for external auditors.
• Research tax rules and regulations for various transactions and stay current with tax changes.
• Evaluate policies and suggest improvements; assist with RPA projects.
• Operate independently with general direction from manager.

Canon U.S.A. Inc., headquartered in Melville, NY seeks a Senior Tax Accountant (Sr Accountant, Tax). The Senior Tax Accountant will prepare and review sales and use tax returns for multi-states, to comply with state and local regulations.

This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Your Impact

• Prepare and review journal entries and perform account reconciliations, identify account variances and determine corrective action
• Review purchase invoices to determine taxability and review use tax accruals for accuracy
• Review customers’ sales tax exemption certificate, based on state requirements and perform system updates Vertex and Canon’s ERP system (S21).

We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $76,150 - $114,040 annually.
