What You'll Do:
  • Prepare complex federal and state income tax returns with minimal errors.
  • Proficiently review moderately complex federal and state income tax returns.
  • Prepare federal and state quarterly tax estimates.
  • Prepare year-end journal entries.
  • Conduct advanced tax research and interpret complex tax guidance to provide recommendations.
  • Train staff on complex tax issues and provide assistance on assigned returns.
  • Draft and edit tax memos, letters, notice responses, and other professional communication.
  • Lead special projects and participate in forecasting, tax planning, and departmental initiatives.
  • Assist tax accountants by answering questions and providing direction on tax return preparation.
  • Apply workpaper standards and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support departmental process improvements and identify opportunities to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
What We're Looking For:
Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in accounting and four (4) or more years of tax experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax law knowledge.
  • Ability to prepare all types of tax returns, including complex returns. Ability to review moderately complex tax returns.
  • Ability to train on moderately complex tax returns.
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding work projects and tax issues; possesses leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Effective time management skills to meet all deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain strong working relationships. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to use professional tax software.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
