Job summary

Amgen invites applications for a Senior Scientist, Target Discovery & Biology – Functional Genomics in South San Francisco. You will join the Target Discovery & Biology team to advance target discovery and validation across Amgen’s therapeutic areas using functional genomics in disease-relevant systems, from in vitro to in vivo models.

The role requires advanced degrees (PhD/MD/PharmD) or equivalent, with strong molecular biology and cell engineering experience and the ability to drive

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant life sciences field (PhD/MD/PharmD) or equivalent.
• Strong background in molecular biology and cell engineering.
• Experience with large-scale, complex genetic screens and follow-up validation.
• Ability to drive cross-site collaboration in a matrixed research environment.

Responsibilities

• Leverage functional genomics to discover novel targets across therapeutic areas.
• Lead and execute projects from inception to mechanism‑of‑action studies.
• Foster a collaborative, scientifically rigorous team culture delivering impact across Amgen’s pipeline.
