Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, instructional design, curriculum development, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years editing, writing, designing, and developing instructional materials.
  • Experience managing course or curriculum development projects end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design and adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify training needs and learning solutions.
  • Develop goals, objectives, and curricula to improve business results and performance.
  • Design and develop learning programs across modalities (instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, blended).

Responsibilities & Functions

This position supports the overall success of our learning and development initiatives in both strategic and supportive ways. The role requires collaboration with all levels – from individual contributors to top leadership – to ensure learning solutions are aligned, effective, and designed to support employee performance.

Curriculum Development & Learning Design
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, business partners, and stakeholders to identify training needs, performance gaps, and learning solutions.
  • Assess business situations and develop goals, learning objectives, and curriculum strategies to support improved business results and employee performance.
  • Design and develop effective learning programs using instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Develop learning solutions for a variety of modalities, including instructor‑led training, virtual learning, eLearning, blended learning, job aids, leader guides, session materials, reinforcements, and assessments.
  • Create engaging content that clearly communicates concepts, processes, expectations, and skills in an impactful and memorable way.
  • Logically organize and transform complex information into professionally designed, functional, and effective learning programs.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum materials that align with educational goals, learning objectives, and organizational needs.
  • Proofread, edit, and refine educational materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and coherence.
  • Evaluate existing educational offerings and recommend improvements to strengthen learner experience, business alignment, and effectiveness.
Program Support & Effectiveness
  • Partner with event owners and stakeholders to develop instructor‑led, virtual, and other learning opportunities in the most effective modality for the audience and learning need.
  • Support the full learning lifecycle, including needs analysis, design, development, delivery support, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, engagement, and alignment through a variety of assessment methods, measurements, observations, and feedback channels.
  • Educate and support staff, facilitators, or stakeholders on new curriculum developments, learning resources, and best practices.
  • Ensure learning materials are designed to support consistency, scalability, and practical application across the organization.
  • Recommend improvements to curriculum structure, learning flow, participant engagement, and post‑training reinforcement.
Collaboration, Communication & Project Management
  • Oversee content development processes from inception to completion, demonstrating strong project management, organization, and follow‑through.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and SMEs to ensure curriculum alignment and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, business partners, internal customers, and colleagues to ensure learning solutions meet business and learner needs.
  • Manage multiple learning projects, timelines, priorities, and deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Work closely with the Strategic Development team to support a unified learning experience strategy.
  • Support project management efforts using agile and iterative development approaches.
  • Explore tools, technologies, and approaches that enhance learning design, delivery, engagement, and effectiveness.
Learning Systems & Technology Support
  • Use learning technologies and development tools to create, publish, maintain, and support learning content.
  • Support learning content placement, updates, testing, and administration within the Learning Management System as needed.
  • Apply basic LMS administration knowledge to ensure learning assets are organized, assigned, tracked, and delivered effectively.
  • Maintain awareness of system delivery standards and technical requirements for digital learning, including SCORM‑compliant eLearning when applicable.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, curriculum development, project management, organizational development, educational technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience editing, writing, designing, and developing instructional materials.
  • At least 5 years of experience in courseware, curriculum, training, or technical documentation development and design.
  • Experience managing course or curriculum development projects from end to end.
  • Ability to manage the full learning lifecycle, including needs analysis, design, development, delivery support, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design, adult learning principles, and curriculum development practices.
  • Ability to assess business needs and translate them into effective learning goals, objectives, strategies, and deliverables.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, and manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and consult effectively with senior leaders, business partners, internal customers, subject matter experts, and colleagues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to organize complex information into clear, concise, and engaging learning content.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Exhibits a high level of emotional intelligence, including the ability to give and receive specific, constructive feedback.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with learning development technologies such as Adobe, Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Snagit, or similar tools.
  • Technically inclined and able to adapt to new technologies with ease.
  • Skilled in designing for a variety of formats and mediums, including instructor‑led training, virtual learning, SCORM‑compliant eLearning, video, web, and print‑based materials.
  • Willing to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with the construction industry.
  • Experience with Articulate 360 or equivalent authoring software.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign.
  • Local to the Kansas City Metro Area.
  • Bilingual Spanish fluency.
