Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System invites applications for a Senior Patient Safety Specialist responsible for directing the system-wide patient safety program and leading clinical process improvements to reduce medical errors and adverse outcomes.

The role involves educating physicians, nurses, and practitioners on system-based causes of errors, coordinating safety committees, and analyzing data to support cost containment and safer patient care across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in nursing, pharmacy, or related clinical area required; Master preferred.
• CPHRM, CPHQ and/or CPSO, or equivalent required, or Certification within 12 months of employment
• Eight (8) years in Healthcare setting with clinical care and supervisory experience preferred
• Three (3) years experience in quality, risk, or patient safety activities
• Two (2) years experience in bio-statistical analysis or quantitative analysis
• Knowledge of high reliability methodologies and event analysis

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and root cause analyses of events causing harm.
• Coordinate patient safety data collection and reporting for national/state measures.
• Educate and coach staff in Apparent/Root Cause analyses and safety improvement.
• Direct activities to meet Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals and related compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical staff to implement system-wide safety improvements.
• Promote safety climate surveys and continuous learning across the system.
• Mentor Patient Safety Specialists and share best practices across departments.
