Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Senior Patient Safety Specialist to lead the system-wide patient safety program, coordinating safety committees, educating physicians, nurses and staff on system-based causes of medical errors, and driving improvement projects with clinical leaders across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in nursing, pharmacy, or related clinical area.
• CPHRM, CPHQ and/or CPSO certification, or certification within 12 months.
• Eight years in healthcare with clinical care and supervisory experience.
• Three years in quality, risk, or patient safety activities.
• Two years in biostatistical analysis or quantitative analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the investigation, data analysis, and root cause follow-up for events of harm.
• Coordinate periodic analyses of failure mode data.
• Educate staff in Apparent Cause Analyses for near misses.
• Coordinate data collection for patient safety metrics across the system.
• Support Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals and policy compliance.
