Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Senior Patient Safety Specialist to drive the system-wide patient safety program and lead efforts to reduce medical errors. The role coordinates safety committees, educates physicians, nurses, and staff, and fosters a culture of safety across the enterprise.

The position collaborates with clinicians and executives to develop and implement improvement projects, analyzes safety data, and reports on performance to meet national goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing, pharmacy, or related clinical area is required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Eight years in a healthcare setting with supervisory experience.
• Three years in quality, risk, or patient safety activities.
• Two years in biostatistical/quantitative analysis.
• Proficient in event analysis methodologies.
• Knowledge of high reliability methodology.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to liaise with regulators and reporting agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-wide patient safety program and align with Joint Commission goals.
• Coordinate patient safety committees and educate staff.
• Analyze patient safety data and report metrics.
• Develop and coordinate improvement projects with clinical staff and directors.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and safety coach program.
• Mentor hospital Patient Safety Specialists in process improvement.
