Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 5 for development and support of launcher systems for the US Navy, based in Sunnyvale, CA. The role emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and team empowerment, with a focus on test objectives, integration, and results.

The candidate will perform test planning, execute testing, and support multiple projects with strong written and verbal communication, while maintaining a culture of continuous learning and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 12+ years of relevant work; or a Master’s in STEM with 10+ years; or a PhD with 7+ years.
• Exposure to EVMS, CAM and project management activities.
• Experience authoring and leading teams in generating test plans and procedures for mechanical systems.
• Experience linking objectives to verification and creating success criteria.
• Experience leading test meetings/working groups and stakeholder management.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience with hands-on mechanical/electrical integration and data processing.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional and scheduling analysis, trade studies, and requirements allocation/verification.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and communicate results.
• Support system testing across multiple launcher programs and projects.
• Balance multiple projects, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively.
