Job Description
The systems (electronic) technicians provide systems design and technical documentation, installation, component level repair, and operational support for a wide array of electronic communications systems and equipment. They are proficient in the use of tools and test equipment to troubleshoot problems and effect repairs. They provide routine preventative maintenance for conference and TV production facilities, radio systems, and TV post-production systems and equipment. They also support fabrication where required and install and maintain short- and long-haul signal distribution systems utilizing copper cable and fiber optic routing and switching.
The system (electronic) technicians offer advanced conference operation services to support audio and video teleconferences, fiber hub network feeds, VOIP, and satellite television broadcasts. They design, document, install, and maintain intra- and inter-facility audio and video transmission subsystems at DOE/HQ in Washington, DC, and Germantown, MD.
