Job summary

D-Wave is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Systems Software Engineering team in New Haven. You will design and build core platform infrastructure, backend services, and user-facing features for simulators and gate-model quantum computers.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, math, or physics.
• 5+ years of hands-on professional software development experience.
• Strong Python software development experience and proficiency in C++, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with NumPy.
• Experience contributing to open-source software projects.
• Competence with AWS and SQL databases.
• Proficiency with Git, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient with RESTful APIs and testing principles.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and applications engineers to translate requirements into technical specs and solutions.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of reliable, maintainable systems across simulators and platform infrastructure.
• Design and build tooling and core software to develop, operate, and monitor quantum processors.
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in design and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance for the user experience.
• Contribute through the software lifecycle from requirements to deployment and production support.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
