Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Principal Systems Security Engineer to architect and advance security controls across enterprise, cloud, and space networks. You will guide RMF activities, lead security reviews, and implement Zero Trust within programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to reduce risk while enabling mission capabilities.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years of security engineering experience, strong cloud security skills, and a proven ability to influence across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of experience leading complex security engineering and architecture initiatives.
• Experience securing cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and implementing security controls at enterprise scale.
• Strong RMF and accreditation knowledge; able to drive DoD RMF activities.

Responsibilities

• Architect secure architectures for ground and space networks.
• Lead security reviews for new systems, infrastructure, applications, and initiatives.
• Conduct threat modeling, architecture assessments, and risk evaluations.
• Develop and lead an information security program for the constructed architecture.
• Support RMF accreditation efforts and implement DoD Zero Trust within programs.
