Job summary

Resource Management Concepts, Inc. (RMC) is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Charleston, South Carolina to work on systems programming and database engineering across relational and graph databases.

You will read and modify core components, trace data flows, and develop secure, scalable software in a government-focused environment. The role emphasizes understanding database internals, network protocols, and distributed system design, with on-site work at a government facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or related field.
• Typical 10 years of software engineering experience, including Intelligence Community support.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain CI polygraph.
• Hands-on C, C++, or Rust systems programming.
• Experience with OS interfaces, concurrency, IPC, and memory management.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and graph databases.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and cloud deployments.
• Knowledge of OIDC, Zero Trust components, and cybersecurity practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, test, and deploy secure, scalable applications and services using C, C++, Rust, Go, Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Apply systems programming principles to build performant software components.
• Develop software for process creation, monitoring, control, and IPC.
• Design and implement networked applications using sockets and client-server models.
• Analyze database engine source code and protocols to support integration.
• Trace requests through database engine code to understand processing logic.
• Develop relational data storage using SQL, including modeling, tuning, and access control.
• Develop and integrate graph database solutions for relationship-based data modeling.
• Work across relational and graph databases, object storage, and search engines (PostgreSQL, Redis, Neo4j, S3, Elasticsearch).
• Refactor services and modernize code, including migrating Python functionality where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage infrastructure.
• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-hosted software and dependencies.
• Integrate applications with identity providers for authentication and access control.
• Implement OpenID Connect integrations and secure API access.
• Incorporate Zero Trust Architecture into software designs.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, and mission stakeholders to embed security controls throughout the SDLC.
• Produce and maintain software designs, interface specs, deployment procedures, and operation guides.
