Job summary

Wabtec seeks a Systems Engineer/Lead Systems Integrator to drive end-to-end engineering across disciplines and tailor KinetiX Wayside Inspection products to customer needs. You will join a multi-disciplinary team, guiding architecture, verification, and integration to deliver high-impact solutions.

In this role, you will lead cross-functional design governance, mentor engineers, and ensure alignment with platform strategy, delivery timelines, and customer requirements for reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering.
• 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams across systems, hardware, and at least one additional discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership in systems engineering and cross-disciplinary integration.
• Experience with modular product design and customization.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience with prototyping, PoC, and gap analysis.
• Ability to manage teams and external partners effectively.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the base product architecture across mechanical, electronic, and system components to drive scalability and cost efficiency.
• Conduct gap analysis between base designs and customer requirements to identify necessary customizations.
• Lead cross-functional solution definition and validate feasibility through architecture alignment and prototyping.
• Translate customer needs into detailed system and subsystem requirements with cross-functional ownership.
• Identify, implement, and validate design improvements to address performance and reliability issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product teams to ensure alignment and governance.
