Job summary

Torc seeks a Senior Systems Integration Engineer in Ann Arbor, MI to lead on-truck platform bring-up and integration of compute platforms, sensors, and vehicle interfaces. You’ll shape how the team scales integration across hardware and software, ensuring reliable operation on real trucks.

You’ll guide automated validation, develop tooling, and mentor engineers, combining hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop validation with hands-on field work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS, Robotics, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of experience integrating hardware and software systems.
• Hands-on experience bringing up embedded Linux compute platforms (boot flow, kernel, driver configuration).
• Strong Python and C++ skills; building tools and automation used by engineers.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop or Software-in-the-Loop environments and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, CAN, PTP, DDS, and ROS 2 on embedded targets.
• Ability to lead cross-domain root-cause investigations and work in labs/vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-truck bring-up and integration of embedded compute platforms, sensors, networking, and vehicle interfaces.
• Own integration of platform and software releases onto target hardware; define acceptance criteria.
• Drive root-cause investigations across hardware, firmware, OS, middleware, and applications.
• Design and evolve HIL, SIL, and on-vehicle validation environments to reflect production trucks.
• Architect automation frameworks, diagnostics, and test strategies for platform variants.
• Represent integration in cross-functional design reviews and surface systemic risks.
• Mentor junior engineers and author bring-up procedures and troubleshooting guides.
