Job summary

Motorola Solutions in Culver City seeks an engineer who spans hardware and firmware to define requirements and build proof-of-concepts for cloud and mobile features. You will prototype, collaborate with electrical design, mechanical, cloud, and mobile teams; bring up boards, validate hardware, and optimize power and performance for scalable solutions. Required: B.S.

in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years engineering experience, travel to Asia 1–2 times/year, and U.S. work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bridge between hardware and firmware domains.
• Experience with C for hardware features and protocols (I2C, SPI, BLE).
• Knowledge of FreeRTOS, Zephyr or Debian Linux.
• Ability to translate high-level product requirements into hardware/firmware constraints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to Asia 1–2 times per year.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Definition: Define technical requirements for new products, ensuring electrical and firmware architectures are aligned to support cloud and mobile features.
• Rapid Prototyping & R&D: Build proof-of-concept tests to validate architectural assumptions early in the design cycle.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with electrical design, Mechanical, Cloud, and Mobile teams to ensure cohesive system design.
• Technical Partner Management: Oversee design execution with CM and JDM partners in Asia.
• System Bring-up: Perform initial board bring-up and hardware/software interface validation on early prototypes.
• Hardware Validation: Use oscilloscope/logic analyzers to debug and optimize power and performance.
