Job summary

The Building People in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Lead Systems Furniture Installer/Mover to head installation, reconfiguration, or relocations. You will coordinate with space planners, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects run safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience with modular furniture systems including AO2, Canvas, Allsteel Strive, and Steelcase, plus KI Genius systems and glass wall partitions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience installing, reconfiguring, and repairing modular office furniture systems.
• Expert knowledge of Herman Miller AO2 and Canvas product lines.
• Expert knowledge of Allsteel Strive and Steelcase Answers furniture systems.
• Experience with KI Genius systems and Steelcase demountable glass wall partitions.
• Furniture repair experience.
• Warehouse and inventory management experience related to systems furniture.
• Experience moving furniture, office equipment, boxes, and crates.
• Demonstrated project leadership experience, including planning and execution of installation projects.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of proper storage, handling, and workplace safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead furniture installation, reconfiguration, and repair projects.
• Interpret furniture installation drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate installation schedules, punch lists, and project execution.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for installation contractors and project teams.
• Manage furniture staging areas and installation inventory.
• Provide quality control oversight for furniture installation projects.
• Coordinate workstation key and lock installation, removal, replacement, and inventory management.
• Support office moves, relocations, and workspace reconfigurations.
• Ensure proper disposal, recycling, repurposing, and buy-back activities for excess furniture.
• Train and guide junior installers during project execution.
• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure proper material handling procedures are followed
