Job summary

VoltaGrid LLC is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a small DevOps/SRE team, balancing hands-on infrastructure work with building and mentoring 3-5 engineers. You will set the technical direction for reliability, cloud infra, and production readiness, while shaping a healthy engineering culture.

The role requires strong leadership, deep cloud and container experience, and a track record of delivering reliable systems in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering with 1-2 years in leadership/management
• Ability to mentor and develop engineers
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure; AWS preferred)
• Production experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and Docker
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or equivalent)
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Strong monitoring/observability skills (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
• Solid Linux systems administration background (Ubuntu, RHEL/CentOS)
• Experience with virtualization (VM provisioning, storage, networking, cluster management)
• Strong communication skills to translate infra concerns to business impact
• Experience with incident management, postmortems, and on-call processes

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 3-5 DevOps/SRE engineers
• Contribute hands-on to infrastructure design, tooling, and incident response
• Set technical direction for cloud infra, on-prem Linux, virtualization, pipelines, and reliability
• Drive adoption of SLI/SLO frameworks and operational maturity
• Partner with engineering leadership on capacity planning and roadmap readiness
• Own team processes: sprint planning, on-call rotations, postmortems
• Hire and onboard new team members as the team grows
• Balance tech debt reduction with feature delivery and reliability investments
• Represent infra in cross-functional planning and incident escalations
