Overview

Senior Systems Engineer position in a leading manufacturing organization located south of Boston in Walpole, Massachusetts. The role owns Windows Server environments—on‑prem, virtual, and Microsoft cloud—across multiple U.S. sites and international locations.

Responsibilities

The engineer will design new systems, maintain standards, set the work bar across the organization, and run day‑to‑day operations to keep systems healthy. As a senior technical member of the Infrastructure team, the engineer leads by example, mentors teammates, and serves as the go‑to person for escalations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of systems engineering experience across on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Experience designing systems—from requirements through architecture, build, and production ownership.
• Senior technical engineer on an infrastructure team—sets standards, mentors others, and handles escalations.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Azure/Microsoft 365, and Exchange.
• Hands‑on with Entra ID Conditional Access and MFA at scale; designed policies, not just toggled settings.
• Backup and recovery experience across on‑prem and cloud workloads, including schedules, tested restores, and recovery under pressure.
• Strong automation and integration skills (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent) and experience tying systems together via APIs and event‑driven patterns.
• Working fluency with AI tools and a clear view of where they fit; uses them daily, knows limitations, and spot opportunities beyond personal productivity.
• Customer‑first mindset, listening before proposing and measuring success by business outcomes.
• Growth mindset focused on continuous improvement rather than a finish line.
• Willing to participate in on‑call rotation for production or business operations issues and to travel occasionally to other sites.

Preferred Experience

• Hands‑on with operational stack tools such as NinjaOne, CrowdStrike, Proofpoint, Barracuda Backup, and Azure Recovery Services Vault or close equivalents.
• Experience in manufacturing or distributed site environments.
