Job summary

Sound Transit, a major regional transit agency in Washington, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer – Testing and Commissioning to lead owner-led testing activities across traction power, train control, communications, trackwork, and rail facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least five years in systems engineering with testing leadership, plus ability to coordinate with contractors and agency leadership on schedules and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Five years experience in systems engineering, preferably rail or transit.
• Experience in testing and commissioning lead roles including root cause analysis and contractor management.

Responsibilities

• Manage all owner-led systems integration test activities.
• Review project schedule and identify deficiencies.
• Review and concurrence of Contractor’s Systems Integration Test Plans and schedules.
• Coordinate with ST Systems Manager and project leads for test prerequisites and open items.
• Provide weekly testing and commissioning schedule assessments to senior rail activation manager.
