Senior Systems Engineer - Test and Integration Laboratory
SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Test and Integration Laboratory to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois, approximately 23 miles from St. Louis, MO. The USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract aims to provide strategic, technical, and program management guidance and support services to facilitate the operations and modernization of the combatant command’s infrastructure, systems, and applications. This support will be provided to the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6).
The successful candidate will bring system engineering experience to maintain, configure, and reliably operate network servers, server virtualization systems, laptops, desktops, VDI, and supporting software/hardware.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Maintain, configure, and operate network servers, server virtualization systems, laptops, desktops, VDI, and supporting hardware/software.
- Perform server administration tasks such as user/group management, security permissions, group policies, print services, and resource monitoring to ensure seamless operation of system components.
- Build, test, and maintain new servers as needed.
- Perform application administration tasks including evaluating, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting operating systems and software applications.
- Manage patches to maintain security and upgrade software versions as required.
- Monitor server and data center performance using enterprise tools, review anomalies, resource utilization, database performance, event logs, and alerts. Install and maintain monitoring and reporting tools.
- Create troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate with government service owners, network technicians, and customers to resolve issues or meet new requirements. Implement and monitor security controls per industry best practices and DoD standards.
- Conduct and participate in network security audits.
- Implement routine server maintenance plans.
- Develop and execute server backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
- Respond to requests related to IT system/service expansion.
- Maintain accurate documentation of the enterprise server infrastructure and track system inventory and locations.
- Develop and maintain a Capacity Management Plan.
- Ensure 24/7 system support, including on-site during work hours and on-call during off-hours.
This position is Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with possible after-hours and weekend support during planned or emergency events.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- DoD Secret clearance or higher.
- At least one IAT Level II certification: Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
- At least one Computing Environment (CE) certification or certificate in Network support/defense (e.g., Splunk, Cisco, McAfee) or Operating System (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Solaris).
Desired Qualifications:
- MA/MS degree.
- ITIL V4 Foundations certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Google Project Management certification.
- One of the IAM Level II certifications: CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO, HCISPP.
