Job summary

Varex Imaging Corporation is seeking a Systems Engineer to drive database administration, infrastructure improvements, and enterprise software governance in a hands-on role. You will manage SQL Server environments, upgrade multiple server-hosted applications, and contribute to monitoring and automation efforts across the technology stack.

The role requires 5+ years in relevant engineering fields, strong scripting (PowerShell/Python), API integration, and experience with enterprise software like

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, database administration, or a related technical role.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and access management.
• Experience supporting and deploying enterprise applications in a production environment.
• Proficiency with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell and/or Python.
• Experience integrating systems through APIs and enterprise automation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, upgrades, access management, and new environment deployments.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database and infrastructure-related issues.
• Own OS and application upgrade projects across 20+ server-hosted applications, coordinating downtime to keep systems current.
• Manage supporting infrastructure tools such as Cohesity, license servers, and OnlineDTR.
• Contribute to expanding enterprise application monitoring (e.g., Zabbix) as capacity allows, alongside the primary database and infrastructure workload.
• Deploy and configure engineering/CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB, ANSYS, LabVIEW, Minitab, etc.).
• Partner with engineering stakeholders to scope projects and communicate timelines; establish GitHub/GitLab governance.
