Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a seasoned Staff Engineer Systems to support the Mission and Payload Programs in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role focuses on leading on-orbit checkout, developing command sequences, and rapid integration of complex ground software to deliver spacecraft operations end users.

The position requires active Top Secret clearance, extensive experience in space systems, RF domains, and hands-on testing, with up to 50% travel and a strong customer-facing orientation.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in analytical data tools and programming languages like Python, MATLAB.
• BS/MS/PhD in a technical field with substantial experience.
• Experience with on-orbit checkout testing and payload checkouts.

Responsibilities

• Leading on-orbit checkout and operations activities.
• Developing and validating command sequences and automation scripts.
• Lead rapid integration of ground software for spacecraft operations end user.
• Develop procedures and scripts for ground software, inputs, simulators, and hardware-in-the-loop.
• Train ground operators.
• Lead development and SIL checkout of activation procedures.
• Travel up to 50% of the time (max 2 weeks at a stretch).
