Job summary

Bedrock Robotics is seeking a Systems Engineer with safety expertise to define and maintain the system-level architecture for autonomous construction equipment. The role bridges systems engineering and functional safety, decomposing requirements across hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems while embedding safety analysis from the start.

You'll collaborate with sensing, compute, and actuation teams, making technical tradeoffs that impact performance and safety posture, and you will help

Qualifications

• 8+ years of systems engineering experience with functional safety work products.
• Ability to analyze data to drive system understanding and prioritization.
• Experience with verification and validation methods.
• Experience with safety analysis and risk assessment methods.
• Experience writing and decomposing system-level requirements.
• Familiarity with safety mechanisms such as redundancy and diagnostics.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in related engineering field.
• Ability to communicate tradeoffs across hardware, software, and mechanical teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop system requirements and metrics with a focus on safety.
• Support safety concepts for the system.
• Define and maintain system-level architecture across hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems.
• Lead or contribute to safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, STPA, FTA).
• Define safety mechanisms and verify their implementation.
• Participate in design reviews focusing on failure modes and safety interfaces.
• Work with V&V lead to plan verification and testing methodology.
• Support root cause analysis for field/test issues.
