Job summary

Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead design of safety-critical radar and embedded systems for defense and commercial customers. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver robust specifications and timely system integration.

Required: a Bachelor’s in engineering or related field and 7+ years in safety-critical industries; strong communication; travel up to 2 weeks/year. Saab offers comprehensive benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form productive relationships within a team.
Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems.
Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests.
Lead development of radar products for safety-critical surveillance worldwide.
Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support deliverables.
Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups.
Coordinate with product management to meet technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance performance.
Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
