Job summary

Saab, Inc. seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team in East Syracuse, NY, to develop complex electronic surveillance systems for government and commercial customers.

Lead design, requirements management, and documentation for safety-critical radar products while coordinating with multiple stakeholders. Required 7+ years in safety-critical industries, strong communication, and proficiency with electromechanical/embedded software systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team.
• Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products providing safety-critical surveillance worldwide.
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal processes.
• Coordinate with product development management to achieve technical, cost, and schedule objectives while managing risk.
• Develop and propose new technologies to enhance product performance.
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
