Saab, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team in East Syracuse, NY. You will lead top-level design for new features and coordinate with stakeholders to meet technical, cost, and schedule objectives.

The role requires 7+ years in safety-critical industries, strong electromechanical and embedded software experience, and travel less than two weeks per year. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team.
• Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical surveillance throughout the world.
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal systems engineering processes.
• Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with product development management to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved while maintaining acceptable levels of risk.
• Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performance.
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
