Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer Systems – Level 4 to support Propulsion Systems & Controls (PS&C) across Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Elkton, MD. You will develop architectures for propulsion hardware and oversee MBSE artifacts across lifecycle phases.

The role requires 8+ years in systems engineering or 6+ with a Master’s or 4+ with a PhD, MBSE experience, and active security clearance eligibility. Collaboration with Navy, Air Force, and industry partners is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM field and 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 6+ years; or PhD with 4+ years.
• Experience performing systems engineering activities on technical programs (requirements, design, integration, test).
• Experience with requirements development, management, and traceability (stakeholder needs to test).
• Familiarity with MBSE environment (SysML) and tools like Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or DOORS.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and coordinate between engineering disciplines and management to deliver integrated solutions.
• Plan and communicate milestones and dates to program leads.
• Produce and maintain systems engineering artifacts (requirements, ICDs, V&V matrices, architectures).
• Define and plan testing activities with propulsion engineering across Elkton and external ranges.
• Lead requirements and architecture reviews (PDR/CDR) for completeness and testability.
• Lead Risk and Opportunity meetings for technical and programmatic teams.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication to build consensus and relationships.
