Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. is seeking a Principal Engineer Systems – Level 3 to join our Propulsion Systems & Controls (PS&C) team across Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Elkton, MD.

You will develop systems architecture for propulsion hardware and support lifecyle development from design to test. The role requires MBSE experience, strong stakeholder collaboration, and the ability to drive technical reviews while coordinating across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM with 5+ years of experience or Master’s with 3+ years.
• Experience performing systems engineering activities on technical programs (requirements, design, integration, or test).
• Experience with requirements development and management, including writing clear, testable requirements and maintaining a requirements baseline
• Experience establishing and maintaining requirements traceability across artifacts.
• Familiarity with MBSE using SysML and tools like Cameo/MagicDraw or similar.
• Experience supporting or leading technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Experience developing verification and validation plans mapping requirements to verification methods.
• Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and coordination between engineering disciplines, program management, and external stakeholders.
• Determine systems engineering tasks required for project planning and execution, and communicate milestones to program leads.
• Produce and maintain systems engineering artifacts (requirements, ICDs, V&V matrices) in an MBSE environment.
• Define and plan propulsion tests and related activities across Elkton and other sites.
• Maintain a requirements decomposition strategy across subsystems and disciplines.
• Lead requirements and architecture reviews to ensure completeness and testability.
• Lead Risk and Opportunity meetings for the technical/program team.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and build consensus with team members.
