Job summary
Onto Innovation is a leader in process control, delivering automated optical inspection and metrology platforms for the semiconductor industry. The Systems Engineer 3 will independently support, maintain, and develop these systems, bringing experience in optical instrumentation, motion control, and cross-functional product support.
Travel to customer sites (domestic and international) up to 20% is expected.
Qualifications
- Degree in Physics, Engineering, or Materials Science preferred.
- 5+ years in high-precision optical or semiconductor capital equipment.
- Experience supporting product development, manufacturing, or field operations.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
- Knowledge of optical inspection, metrology, spectroscopy, ellipsometry, and reflectometry is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Integrate hardware subsystems with software to enable product functionality.
- Qualify new product configurations focusing on performance and reliability.
- Assess health and performance of installed systems in labs and customer sites.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues with cross-functional teams.
- Travel to customer locations for integration and troubleshooting (≈20%).
