Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an experienced engineer to provide technical leadership within the Capital Projects - Laboratory Design and Integration group. You will drive integrated, value-based solutions for examinations of spent nuclear fuel, collaborating with Naval Reactors, Architects/Engineers, and Construction Managers to advance recapitalization efforts.

You will mentor team members, set unit strategy, and ensure designs incorporate exam equipment, radiological controls, and waste

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with at least 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with at least 4 years; or Doctorate with at least 1 year; or current Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at Naval Nuclear Laboratory.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and ability to develop team members.
• Strong communication and engagement skills with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to cultivate relationships and work through conflict while improving processes.

Responsibilities

• Produce integrated and value-based solutions for complex problems considering constraints, priorities, and inputs.
• Provide technical design support to ensure cost effectiveness and alignment with project requirements.
• Develop and mentor Project team members.
• Set strategic orientation for the unit's portfolio of work.
• Integrate program equipment and processes such as exam equipment, radiological controls, and waste handling into detailed design.
